CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on way of evaluating and helping the functioning of the craniosacral system. The craniosacral system is made up of the membranes and the cerebral spinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.  Connective tissue, in turn, links this system with all other body structures.

The craniosacral rhythm is separate from the heart rhythm and the breathing rhythm. By gently placing my hands on the body, I can feel for and evaluate this rhythm.  In particular, I’m evaluating its symmetry, rate, range, and quality.  I’m also sensing abnormal restrictions or tension patterns in tissues.  The body compensates for these restrictions, which often results in pain and discomfort. I then treat based on evaluation.
